Good day, star seekers. The week begins just after Mars leaves the uneasy waters of Cancer for Leo, giving action a louder, prouder and more direct quality than we have seen in recent weeks. Wednesday, Mercury leaves diplomatic Libra for Scorpio, and conversations begin digging beneath polite explanations toward motives, money, trust and whatever has been left conveniently unsaid.

Friday brings friction between Mercury and Mars, making sharp words particularly easy to reach for and considerably harder to retrieve. Then the weekend changes the weather again: Venus stations retrograde in Scorpio early Saturday as the Moon reaches its Last Quarter in Cancer, and Sunday brings an opposition between the Libra Sun and retrograde Saturn in Aries.

Traditional astrology finds neither planet especially comfortable in those signs, so this is not a weekend for pretending limits do not exist. Think of it as the first cold morning in the high desert: nothing has necessarily gone wrong, but the season has changed, and the old way of leaving the door open all night no longer makes much sense.

Aries

Relationships and personal independence sit across from one another this week, and by Sunday it may become difficult to keep pretending they never compete. The Sun in your partnership sector faces Saturn in your sign, putting an agreement, marriage, collaboration or conflict up against your own limits and responsibilities. Meanwhile, Mercury moves into shared money and trust Wednesday, joining Venus there just before Venus turns retrograde. A debt, joint account, emotional bargain or private agreement may need review rather than another vague assurance that everything will work itself out. Friday’s Mercury-Mars square can turn a financial concern into an argument about romance, children or a creative project, so separate the numbers from the feelings before discussing both. Saturday’s Last Quarter Moon brings home and family into the picture. Something in the household may need to be released, repaired or redistributed before everyone can move forward.

Taurus

Partnerships become more complicated this week, though complicated does not automatically mean bad. Mercury enters your relationship sector Wednesday, encouraging deeper conversations with a spouse, client, collaborator or close friend, while Venus — your ruling planet — stations retrograde there Saturday. An existing agreement may deserve another look, especially if the relationship has been running on assumptions rather than stated terms. Friday can make the temperature rise between partnership matters and home or family, with someone feeling that they are being asked to choose sides. Sunday’s Sun-Saturn opposition falls across work, health and the quieter part of your chart, reminding you that a schedule built without enough rest eventually sends its own invoice. The weekend is less about making a dramatic relationship decision than figuring out what can realistically be sustained.

Gemini

Daily work, health and responsibilities move to the foreground when Mercury, your ruling planet, enters Scorpio Wednesday. You may become much less tolerant of inefficient systems, vague instructions or a problem everyone has learned to work around instead of fixing. Friday’s square between Mercury and Mars links that frustration with messages, paperwork, siblings, neighbors or local travel, making haste the easiest way to create another task for yourself. Venus turning retrograde in the same work-and-health sector Saturday suggests an older workplace dynamic, habit or wellness concern may deserve renewed attention. The Last Quarter Moon lands in your financial sector that morning, giving you another reason to trim what costs more than it returns. Sunday then puts creativity, romance or children across from friends and group obligations. You cannot give every part of life first priority at the same time.

Cancer

Saturday’s Last Quarter Moon occurs in your sign, giving the weekend a distinctly personal quality. Something about your role, direction, appearance or the amount you have been carrying may be ready to change, not because the entire road was wrong but because you have reached the end of one stretch of it. Earlier in the week, Mercury enters your sector of creativity, romance and children, where Venus is already slowing toward retrograde. An old project, former interest or unfinished conversation of the heart may return to the table, but it deserves examination rather than nostalgia. Friday could tie one of those matters to money, particularly if enthusiasm has been allowed to outrun the budget. Sunday’s Sun-Saturn opposition falls between home and career. A professional responsibility may be real, but so is whatever has been waiting for you back at the house.

Leo

Mars has just entered your sign, restoring some directness after weeks when action may have felt more defensive than decisive. That can be useful, but Friday’s square from Mercury warns against assuming that moving faster automatically puts you in charge of the situation. Home, family and property matters become more serious once Mercury enters Scorpio Wednesday, and Venus turning retrograde there Saturday may bring an old household decision, family dynamic or question of belonging back around. Jupiter remains in your sign, so there is still room to grow, but growth needs somewhere stable to live. The Last Quarter Moon asks for rest and the clearing of something private that has lingered past its usefulness. Sunday’s opposition between the Sun and Saturn may complicate travel, education, publishing, legal matters or a strongly held belief through paperwork or immediate obligations. Handle what is actually in front of you before defending the grand principle.

Virgo

Communication takes a more investigative turn Wednesday when Mercury, your ruler, enters Scorpio. You may find yourself reading the fine print, asking better questions or discovering that an ordinary conversation has more underneath it than anyone initially admitted. Friday can be prickly, however, as Mercury squares Mars in the private part of your chart. A hidden worry or old irritation can easily end up speaking through you if you do not recognize it first. Venus stations retrograde in your communication sector Saturday, making this a good period for revisiting unfinished correspondence, sibling matters, neighborhood issues or agreements that were never quite settled. The Last Quarter Moon also asks you to reconsider a friendship or long-term goal. Sunday brings the sharper financial question, placing personal resources across from shared money, debts or obligations. Be very clear about which side of the ledger belongs to whom.

Libra

The Sun continues through your sign, but this is not an especially carefree stretch of Libra season. Mercury leaves your sign Wednesday and enters your financial sector, where it joins Venus as she slows toward Saturday’s retrograde station. Money, possessions, pricing and questions of personal value may require revision over the coming weeks, particularly if an arrangement looked better on paper than it feels in practice. Friday can bring friction between those resources and a friend, group or future plan. The Last Quarter Moon reaches the top of your chart Saturday, bringing a career or reputation matter to a point where something may need to be completed, revised or left behind. Then Sunday’s Sun-Saturn opposition lands directly across your partnership axis. Another person may bring a boundary, delay or reality check. Take it seriously without automatically treating it as rejection.

Scorpio

Mercury enters your sign Wednesday, followed just days later by Venus stationing retrograde there, making this a decidedly personal week. Your thoughts, presentation, relationships and priorities may all become harder to treat casually, and something you thought was settled could reveal another layer. Friday’s Mercury-Mars square connects your personal position with career and reputation, so be especially careful about saying something publicly simply because you are tired of keeping it to yourself. Mars and Jupiter are both activating the professional part of your chart, making ambition real, but they do not guarantee that every battle improves your standing. Saturday’s Last Quarter Moon asks for a reassessment of travel, education, publishing, legal matters or a larger belief. Sunday then brings attention back to work, health and private strain. A responsibility may need to become smaller before your life can become larger.

Sagittarius

There is a strong behind-the-scenes quality to this week. Mercury moves into the private part of your chart Wednesday, joining Venus just before her retrograde station, which may pull an old relationship, private expense, unfinished grief or matter you thought had been put away back into consideration. This is better territory for understanding than announcing. Friday’s Mercury-Mars square can connect that private tension with travel, education, publishing, legal matters or a strongly held belief, and there is little benefit in turning a personal concern into a philosophical war. Saturday’s Last Quarter Moon puts shared money, debts, taxes and obligations on the sorting table. Then Sunday asks how much a friendship or group commitment should cost you in creativity, romance, pleasure or time with children. Your ruler Jupiter still favors the larger horizon, but even a long road requires fuel.

Capricorn

Friends, organizations and long-range plans begin asking deeper questions once Mercury enters Scorpio Wednesday. Who is actually committed? Who has the necessary information? And which goal still matters when the conversation moves beyond enthusiasm? Venus stations retrograde in the same sector Saturday, making old friendships, former collaborators or abandoned plans more likely to return for review. Friday can expose tension between group expectations and shared money or resources, particularly if everyone assumed someone else was covering the cost. Saturday’s Last Quarter Moon lands in your partnership sector and may bring an agreement or relationship to a natural checkpoint. Sunday is the heavier piece: the Sun at the top of your chart opposes Saturn, your ruling planet, in the sector of home, property and family. Career and private responsibility may not fit together neatly this week. That does not mean one must lose, but the arrangement needs to acknowledge both.

Aquarius

Career and reputation become more strategic this week. Mercury enters the top of your chart Wednesday, encouraging research, serious conversations and a closer look at the motives behind a professional offer or decision. Venus is already there and turns retrograde Saturday, making the next several weeks useful for reviewing public relationships, career direction and whether the work receiving your attention is also work you still value. Friday’s Mercury-Mars square falls across the career-partnership axis, making a client, collaborator or close counterpart part of the equation. Avoid promising something professionally before checking what another person has actually agreed to. The Last Quarter Moon asks you to streamline work and health routines. On Sunday, the Sun-Saturn opposition puts travel, education or a larger plan up against paperwork, communication or local responsibilities. Take care of the mile in front of you before worrying about the state line.

Pisces

Travel, education, publishing, legal matters and questions of belief begin going deeper Wednesday as Mercury enters Scorpio. A subject you have only skimmed may suddenly demand real study, or an old plan to travel, learn or publish may return in a different form as Venus stations retrograde there Saturday. Friday ties that larger question to work and health responsibilities, making it important to distinguish inspiration from logistics. A good idea can survive a calendar. The Last Quarter Moon falls in the part of your chart associated with romance, children, pleasure and creative work, and something may need to be finished or simplified so it can become enjoyable again. Sunday’s Sun-Saturn opposition is decidedly material: shared money and obligations face off against personal income and resources. Do not let generosity write a check that your own security has to cover later.

Guide for Stargazers

The week begins with plenty of moonlight left over from Saturday’s Harvest Moon. On Monday, the waning gibbous Moon passes near the Pleiades star cluster in Taurus. Their closest approach occurs during daylight from Nevada, but by Monday evening the Moon is still in the same neighborhood and makes the Pleiades an easy binocular target nearby. As the week continues, the Moon rises progressively later and loses brightness until it reaches Last Quarter over Carson City at 6:25 a.m. Saturday. That means weekend evenings will be noticeably darker before the Moon rises, with increasingly favorable conditions for picking out autumn star fields.

Saturn is the planetary star of the week. It rises in the east around sunset and remains visible essentially all night, reaching opposition on Sunday, October 4. Opposition places Earth roughly between Saturn and the Sun, making the ringed planet about as bright and conveniently placed as it gets this year. You do not need a telescope to find Saturn, but even a modest telescope will reveal its rings, which are still presented at a relatively shallow angle. Venus is much trickier: look very low in the west immediately after sunset early in the week, with a clear horizon, but it is becoming increasingly difficult to catch as it drops toward the Sun’s glare.

Before dawn, Mars and Jupiter are both visible in the eastern sky, with Jupiter the brighter and easier of the pair. The Orionid meteor shower officially becomes active on Friday, October 2, as Earth begins passing through debris left by Halley’s Comet, but its peak is still nearly three weeks away, so do not expect a meteor storm this weekend. For northern Nevada observers, Saturn is the better reason to step outside: find an open eastern view after sunset, let it climb away from the horizon, and give the ringed planet a look on the weekend when it reaches its best observing position of the year.
