Jesse Lee Coffman, 43, of Carson City, was arrested early Thursday after deputies were dispatched to Bodines Casino on a report of an unwanted subject, according to the arrest report.

The reporting deputy wrote that casino staff said Coffman had repeatedly been told to leave after he tried to fight a bartender but refused to do so. Staff told deputies Coffman instead sat at a gaming machine, and security later had to intervene when he again tried to fight a bartender.

Deputies arrived on scene and contacted Coffman at a slot machine. According to the report, Coffman denied having been told to leave. Casino employees told deputies they wanted to pursue charges.

The reporting deputy wrote that Coffman was under the supervision of Nevada State Parole and Probation and was prohibited from consuming alcohol or entering establishments where alcohol is served. The deputy reported seeing a cocktail at Coffman’s gaming machine.

When deputies attempted to arrest Coffman, he began backing away, according to the report. Deputies took hold of his arms and placed him in handcuffs. During a search incident to the arrest, deputies reported finding a small bag containing a crystalline substance and a methamphetamine pipe in Coffman’s coat pocket. The substance later returned a presumptive positive test for methamphetamine, according to the report.

Coffman was booked into the Carson City Jail on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and trespassing not amounting to burglary. He was also booked on a felony Parole and Probation violation. Bail on the controlled substance charge was listed at $2,500.

Bicycle stop results in concealed firearm arrest

Brian Lee Knight, 56, of Carson City, was arrested shortly after midnight Thursday on suspicion of carrying a concealed firearm without a permit, according to the arrest report.

The reporting deputy wrote that Knight was riding a bicycle near Carson Street and East Eighth Street when he was stopped because the bicycle did not appear to have a functioning rear-facing light or reflector.

After a records check showed Knight was clear of warrants, the deputy asked whether he had any illegal narcotics or weapons and Knight said he did not, according to the report. Knight then consented to a search.

During the search, the deputy reported finding a small loaded revolver in Knight’s back left pocket. Knight was wearing baggy cargo pants and a fleece jacket, and the firearm was not visible before the search, according to the report. The revolver contained four rounds of ammunition.

Knight told the deputy the firearm was not his and that he had been returning it to a friend, according to the report. Deputies confirmed Knight did not have a concealed-carry permit and determined the firearm had not been reported stolen.

Knight was booked into the Carson City Jail on felony suspicion of carrying a concealed firearm without a permit. Bail was listed at $7,500.

Traffic stop leads to two drug arrests

A 43-year-old Reno woman and a 57-year-old Carson City man were arrested early Thursday following a traffic stop near Longridge Drive and Table Rock Drive, according to the arrest report.

The reporting deputy wrote that the woman was driving a red Cadillac Escalade when the vehicle crossed the limit line at a stop sign. The man was a passenger.

While deputies conducted records checks, a sheriff’s K-9 alerted to the vehicle, according to the report. During a subsequent search, deputies reported finding a red purse behind the front seating area containing a clear bag with a crystal-like substance suspected to be methamphetamine. Deputies also reported finding a broken glass pipe with burnt residue inside a box in the vehicle’s trunk.

Both were arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail was listed at $2,500 each.

Woman arrested on outside-agency warrant

A 23-year-old Carson City woman was arrested early Thursday on an outstanding warrant after a deputy stopped to investigate a suspicious vehicle parked near closed businesses, according to the arrest report.

The reporting deputy wrote that the vehicle contained three adults and two children. During a records check of the adults, dispatch advised that the woman had an extraditable Reno Township Justice Court warrant for failure to appear.

Dispatch confirmed the warrant, and the woman was taken into custody and transported to the Carson City Jail without further incident, according to the report. Bail on the outside-agency warrant was listed at $2,000.

19-year-old arrested on DUI charge

A 19-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday morning on suspicion of DUI after deputies stopped a Chevrolet Equinox displaying a license plate that belonged to a BMW, according to the arrest report.

The reporting deputy wrote that the man admitted consuming alcohol and agreed to perform standardized field sobriety tests. According to the report, deputies observed signs of impairment during the tests, including a lack of smooth pursuit, nystagmus at maximum deviation and an incorrect number of steps during the walk-and-turn test.

The man also consented to a preliminary breath test, which registered 0.095%, according to the report. He was arrested on suspicion of first-offense DUI and booked into the Carson City Jail. Bail was listed at $1,137.

Carson City man turns himself in on battery warrant

Kesten Stewart McCord, 21, of Carson City, was arrested Thursday evening on an outstanding gross misdemeanor warrant for battery on a protected person, according to the arrest report.

The reporting deputy wrote that he went to a residence on Brian Circle in an attempt to contact McCord regarding a Carson City Justice Court warrant issued Sept. 14. A resident told the deputy McCord was not there.

At about 6:20 p.m., McCord arrived at the Carson City Sheriff’s Office to turn himself in, according to the report. He was taken into custody and booked into the Carson City Jail without incident.

McCord was arrested on the gross misdemeanor battery warrant. Bail was listed at $1,000. 

Reno man arrested on felony drug charge, two warrants

A 30-year-old Reno man was arrested Thursday afternoon on a felony drug charge and two outstanding warrants, according to the arrest report.

According to the report, Tri-NET Task Force personnel were contacted June 18 by the Carson City Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division regarding the man and suspected methamphetamine. The man was allegedly found in possession of about 0.6 grams of methamphetamine but was not arrested at that time.

Tri-NET personnel contacted the man again Thursday at a residence on Cumberland Circle in Reno and arrested him on the drug charge and two active warrants, according to the report.

The man was booked on a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor contempt-of-court warrant out of Carson City and a misdemeanor arrest warrant out of Storey County. Bail was listed at $2,500 on the drug charge, with cash bail of $500 and $1,000 on the respective warrants. 

Parole warrant results in Carson City booking

Joshua Weaver, 38, of Carson City, was booked Thursday on a felony parole violation after being transported from a California detention center, according to the arrest report.

According to the report, Weaver was being held at the San Joaquin County Detention Center in French Camp, California, on a parole retake warrant issued by the Nevada Board of Parole Commissioners on Feb. 4.

Parole and Probation personnel transported Weaver to the Carson City Jail, where he was booked on a felony parole violation and held without bail.

Alcohol use leads to contempt arrest

A 41-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday morning on a misdemeanor contempt-of-court charge after allegedly violating conditions of his pretrial release, according to the report.

The man had been ordered not to possess or consume alcohol, marijuana, illegal drugs or drug paraphernalia while participating in a pre-conviction pretrial program, according to the report.

Alternative Sentencing staff collected a urine sample from the man Sept. 14 that later tested positive for benzodiazepines and cannabinoids. The report states that test was considered his baseline. A second sample collected Sept. 15 again returned those results but also tested positive for ethyl glucuronide, identified in the report as alcohol.

The man returned to Alternative Sentencing on Thursday and was confronted with the test results, according to the report. He admitted drinking alcohol and was arrested and escorted to the Carson City Jail.

He was booked on a misdemeanor contempt-of-court charge. Cash bail was listed at $3,000. 

Probation violation after third offense DUI results in no-bail hold

Aaron B. Cole Jr., 38, of Reno, was booked into the Carson City Jail Thursday on a felony probation violation following his transfer from the Washoe County Jail, according to the arrest report.

According to the report, Cole appeared in Carson District Court in March in connection with a third-offense DUI and was placed on probation under diversion status for up to five years. The report states Cole later failed to check in with Parole and Probation and was placed in pending warrant status.

Cole subsequently failed to appear in Western Regional Drug Court on July 27, and a bench warrant was issued.

Parole and Probation received notification Sept. 11 that Cole had been arrested and was being held at the Washoe County Jail. He was transported to the Carson City Jail on Thursday and booked on a felony probation violation. He was held without bail pending a scheduled appearance in Western Regional Drug Court.
