UPDATE 8:55PM: The Nevada Highway Patrol says impairment is suspected in the fatal collision Sunday night involving an adult male motorcycle rider and a truck on US-50 East at Drako Way.
The motorcyclist was pronounced deceased on scene by medical personnel. The driver of the truck, an adult female, sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Impairment is suspected by the driver of the truck as a contributing factor in the crash, said NHP Trooper James LaRose.
Travel lanes on US-50 at Drako Way are reduced to facilitate completion of the crash investigation, said LaRose. As of around 8:30 p.m., lane closures are expected to last two more hours or less.
Further information will be provided as it becomes available following the preliminary investigation and notification of family, said LaRose.

Carson City Fire Department, sheriff’s deputies and the Nevada Highway Patrol responded early Sunday evening to a vehicle collision involving a motorcycle in which CCFD personnel on scene advised to dispatch of one fatality.
The crash happened on Highway 50 East near Drako Way.
Called into dispatch at around 5:30 p.m., Carson City Fire Department arrived at the scene and advised dispatch of a fatality. At the time of the call to dispatch, the motorcycle rider had reportedly suffered critical injuries.
A Carson City Sheriff’s Office deputy on scene advised to dispatch that a motorcycle and truck collided.
Carson City Sheriff Office deputies and NHP have closed the eastbound No. 2 lane. Motorists can expect delays.
The crash is in the Nevada Highway Patrol jurisdiction and is leading the investigation. We have reached out to NHP for information.
