Inside Nevada’s Darkest Past: Glen Wharton Reveals the Stories of the State’s Most Notorious Prisoners

The Carson City Historical Society welcomes back Glen Whorton by popular demand for a fascinating look inside the darker side of Nevada history with “Nevada’s Most Notorious Prisoners: The Crimes, the Captures, the Convictions, the Danger.”
The presentation will be held Saturday, September 26, from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Nevada Room at the Carson City Senior Center, 911 Beverly Drive.
Whorton brings more than three decades of firsthand experience with Nevada’s prison and corrections system. During his 32 years with the Nevada Department of Prisons/Corrections, he served in numerous roles, including Director of the Nevada Department of Prisons. His extensive career also includes service as a hearing officer for the Nevada Parole Board and as Ombudsman for inmate litigation with the Nevada Attorney General’s Office. He is also a past president of the Nevada State Prison Preservation Society.
Drawing on his years inside Nevada’s correctional system, Whorton will share true stories of some of the state’s most infamous and dangerous inmates—from violent outlaws to cold-blooded killers whose crimes became part of Nevada history.
The program will explore the crimes, captures and convictions, offer an insider’s perspective on Nevada’s prison system, and examine lessons from the past that still resonate today.
Admission is free for Carson City Historical Society members and $10 for non-members.
