This week, Catmandu introduces some very sweet residents. Perhaps one may be your next best friend. These loving, healthy senior cats came to us after their owner passed away.
She had quite a few cats, but it was clear that each and every one had been well-loved and cared for. Now, these wonderful cats are looking for a home where they can spend their remaining years being loved just as much as they deserve. They can go to new homes individually or with someone else from the group.
All of these cats are eligible for Catmanduโsย Senior 2 Senior Foster Program, which matches cats age 10 and older with senior citizens age 55 and older. This program is a little different from a traditional adoption. A participating senior takes the cat home, and for all intents and purposes, the cat becomes theirs.ย We do not try to place the cat with another adopter.
Our goal is for the cat and senior to remain together for the rest of the catโs life. However, since the cat technically remains the property of Catmandu as a foster, the program provides an important safety net.
The cat can continue to receive veterinary care through Catmandu, and we help with medical expenses when needed. And if something should happen to the senior citizen, the cat simply comes back to Catmandu, where we will make sure they are cared for. All six cats are spayed/neutered, up to date on shots and microchipped.

Meet the Seniors:
Lucky is an incredibly handsome 12-year-old male flame-point Siamese. Affectionate, easygoing and simply wonderful, Lucky would make a delightful companion for someone looking for a loving friend.
Lucy is a lovely 12-year-old Siamese mix with a sweet personality. She is the kind of gentle companion who would love having a person of her own.
Olaf is an adorable 12-year-old male with a distinctive white-and-black coat and the cutest little โbangs.โ His winning personality makes him hard to resist.
Peaches is an 11-year-old female dilute calico with a beautiful long-haired coat. She is as loving as she is gorgeous and would make a wonderful companion.
Callie is a gorgeous 11-year-old long-haired calico who is incredibly affectionate. If youโre looking for a cat who will happily return your love, Callie may be your girl.
Sissy is a beautiful long-haired dilute calico. She is more timid than the others and may need some time to feel comfortable with a new person. But once she trusts you, her incredibly sweet nature shines through.
Cats live, on average, 15 to 20 years, and these seniors are all in good health. At 11 and 12 years old, they still have several very good years ahead of them โ and so much love left to give.ย The Senior 2 Senior Foster Program is designed to give these cats something every animal deserves: a loving home, a devoted person and the security of knowing they will be cared for throughout their lives.ย There isย no chargeย to participate in the Senior 2 Senior Foster Program.
If you are 55 or older, live near Carson City, and are able to care for a cat and transport them to the veterinarian or Catmandu when necessary, we would love to introduce you to these wonderful seniors. Come meet them at Catmandu this weekend at 1829 Brown Street. We are open Friday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Prospective adopters/fosters are asked to arrive no later than 3 p.m. so there is plenty of time to meet and spend time with the cats before adoptions close.
These cats have already lost the person they loved. Now theyโre hoping to find someone who will open their heart and home to them โ and give them the happy ending they deserve.
