A 32-year-old man was arrested Tuesday for suspicion of felony causing damage to state property amounting to more than $5,000 and other alleged offenses, according to a Carson City Sheriff’s Office booking report.
Following an investigation, deputies arrested Yubrini Edenilson Chicas. He was also booked for gross misdemeanor intimidation of a public officer and resisting.
According to the booking report, at 7:34 p.m. deputies were called to the 1700 block of North Edmonds regarding a suspicious subject who was seen walking without a shirt on and wearing black pants.
The man, who matched the provided description, walked toward the deputy with his hands in his pockets and a visible knife on his belt. The deputy instructed the man not to touch the knife, but he grabbed it and threw it, closed, at the deputy’s feet, the report states.
The deputy informed that man that he was being detained until they could determine what was happening as he matched the description of an individual reportedly pounding on doors in the area.
The man put his hands up, stating that he was not resisting. As the deputy approached, the man bladed his body away and began walking from the deputy, reaching into his pocket. The deputy increased the distance between the man and drew their service weapon. The man stated he did not want to provide his name and did not trust law enforcement, the report states.
The man then pulled his phone out of his pocket and began recording the incident. The deputy instructed the man to put the phone down and stop walking away, reiterating that he was detained until the deputy could identify him and assess the situation.
The deputy attempted to place him in handcuffs. While doing so, the man pulled his right hand away and attempted to resist. After securing the handcuffs, the man continued to swat and resist, being escorted to the patrol vehicle, attempting to pull away from the two deputies. Once in the back of the patrol vehicle, the man attempted to kick out the rear window and banged his head against the glass. The man managed to bend the car door frame and one of the support beams, the report states.
The man then stated to the deputy “why don’t you take off that badge and we’ll see what kind of a man you are.” Bail: $10,000.
