With MLB spring training fully underway in Arizona and Florida, enjoy a celebration close to home today, Saturday, with an all-ages fundraiser to help revamp Governor’s Field, hosted by the Carson City Chamber Leadership Institute from noon to 4 p.m. at the Saltwater Tavern, 306 East William Street.
The event features the El Fogon Food Truck, live music, raffles and a silent auction. All proceeds to help renovate Governor’s Field.
Each year, the Carson City Chamber of Commerce Leadership Institute selects a community project to complete as part of its program, with the goal of creating a meaningful and lasting benefit for Carson City. This year, the Leadership Institute Class of 2026 has selected Governors Field, a shared space where families gather and youth sports thrive. The goal is to enhance the field in ways that are practical, welcoming and built to last.
Planned improvements include updated signage and wayfinding, revitalized dugouts and field houses with sports-themed murals, added shaded picnic seating near the snack bar and landscaping enhancements around the memorial area.
To complete this project, the Class of 2026 is seeking to raise $50,000. Contributions of any amount will directly support improvements that benefit Carson City families for years to come. Saturday’s event at Saltwater Tavern is a fundraiser to help meet the $50,000 goal.
