If you have a soft spot for sweet senior cats and would like a friendly feline friend, Matilda may be the perfect match for you. This lovely short-haired torbie (tortoiseshell tabby) is a mature lady of nearly 10, who still has lots of life ahead of her and plenty of love to give.

Matilda is friendly and affectionate with people, though she can be a little shy when meeting someone new. Give her a bit of time to warm up, and you’ll discover a gentle, devoted companion who truly enjoys human attention. What she doesn’t enjoy, however, is sharing her space with other animals. After spending the first 8½ years of her life as the one and only pet in her home, Matilda is happiest as a solo feline and would definitely do best as the only animal in the household. While her experience with dogs and children is unknown, her preference for peace and quiet suggests she’d thrive in a calm home where she can be the center of someone’s world.

Sadly, Matilda lost her previous home when her person had to move to housing that doesn’t allow pets. She’s finding it difficult to adjust to life surrounded by other cats and is longing for a home of her own where she can relax, feel safe, and be loved again.

Matilda is spayed, up to date on vaccines, and eligible for our wonderful Senior-to-Senior Foster Program. This program matches cats like her with people age 55 and older. Through this program, the cat can live with you and continue receiving excellent veterinary care from Dr. Sean Peck of All Creatures Vet Services, with support for veterinary costs provided.

If you would like to meet sweet Matilda and possibly take her home, please visit Catmandu this weekend. She’s ready to trade shelter life for a quiet home, a cozy spot to rest, and a person to love.  We are open Friday -Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 1829 Brown Street. Come early if you wish to adopt.
