The Storey County Sheriff’s Office has identified a Dayton man who died Saturday in a reported Gold Hill dirt bike crash. The following is a news release Sunday from the sheriff’s office.

On Saturday, Feb. 7, 2026 at approximately 4:06pm, Storey County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a report of a solo dirt bike crash located on State Route 342 in Gold Hill. Upon arrival, deputies observed a male rider unconscious and unresponsive on the ground. The rider, later identified as Sean Speed (age 35 of Dayon, NV), was wearing a helmet at the time.

Unfortunately, despite life saving measures, Speed succumbed to his injuries on scene. Nevada State Police are handling the crash investigation portion of the incident. This case is pending further investigation.
