Hundreds of Carson City students and parents school officials, school board trustees, commissioners and community sponsors filled the Casino Fandango on Thursday night to celebrate Mayor Lori Bagwell’s “Attendance Hall of Fame” awards night.

The initiative recognized students who demonstrated perfect, improved or consistent attendance throughout the school year and reinforces the message that being present and on-time matters both in the classroom and beyond. The attendance campaign was created to encourage positive habits while highlighting the long-term value of regular school attendance.

Thanks to partnerships with more than 30 local businesses including Greater Nevada Credit Union (GNCU), Carson City Toyota and Glen Eagles Restaurant, the celebration featured exciting rewards. Mayor Bagwell and community sponsors donated more than 36 new scooters and 14 new laptops to qualifying students. Students who won scooters also had access to a free helmet, provided by Safe Routes to School.

Six of 36 scooters from The Wheelhouse.

Because numerous students met the specified criteria, the prize-winning students were selected by school site through raffle drawings. All winners were invited to attend the evening celebrations with their parents and enjoy food and fun before receiving their rewards.
