Ed Blohme spotted this young Bald Eagle on the Eagle Creek segment connecting Riverview Park northeast trail to Morgan Mill, Empire trail in Carson City.

We think he may be born in the last few years, as it takes about 7 years for them to complete the white head and tail feathers we see in the mature Bald Eagles.

For anyone new to the trail, Ed and I , and our dog Luna are the Riverview Park Ambassadors for CC Parks and Open Space. We walk each morning at least and view the conditions of the trail, pick up any trash, and forgotten dog waste, in addition to keeping the Mutt Mitt stations full of bags. It  seems for the most part, pet parents are doing a good job of picking up, we appreciate that!

For those that don’t think its important, please know that dog waste left creates bad bacteria in our soil, and consequently in our water for many years. It is not naturally bio-degradable, as horse and wild animal waste is.

Enjoy our beautiful outdoors!
