Smoke from regional and Northern California wildfires has resulted in an unhealthy air quality rating of 169 as of 9 a.m. Saturday morning, according to data from the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection.

The air quality index rating for Carson City is forecast to be in the 101-150 range for Sunday, the NDEP reports.

Air quality rated in the unhealthy range can be especially hazardous for people with heart or lung disease, older adults, and children. Those individuals should avoid prolonged or heavy exertion outdoors. All other people should reduce prolonged or heavy exertion outdoors.
