UPDATE: Due to the fire, Douglas County emergency resource organizations have asked Friends in Service Helping, also known as FISH, to be the central point for donations and Christmas gifts to help those involved in the fire. Individuals can drop off donations at the FISH center in Minden, 1561 U.S. Hwy 395 N or in Carson City at FISH, 138 East Long Street. Donations can also be made on FISH website here.
FISH will be accepting food, toiletries, clothing, and monetary donations. Please note: Used beds, bedding, large furniture, and used undergarments cannot be accepted at this location.
Individuals affected by the fire may visit the FISH store today (Dec. 20, 2025) until approximately 3 p.m. to receive clothing and supplies to help get through the weekend. FISH may ask for identification or verification to ensure assistance is provided to those directly impacted.
Until FISH reopens on Monday, the Douglas County Community and Senior Center will also be accepting food, clothing, and toiletry donations on FISH’s behalf. Donations can be dropped off at the back of the Community Center near the roundabout. Please note: Monetary donations cannot be accepted at the Community Center. However, gift cards may be dropped off at the Community Center front counter through the weekend to assist those impacted by the fire.

A fire that swept through duplexes in the Gardnerville Ranchos complex on Friday afternoon has left at least 10 units destroyed and multiple displaced residents. Some evacuated residents in the area were allowed to return Friday evening.
There are no reports of any injuries or people missing as of Friday afternoon, East Fork Fire Chief Alan Ernst told The Record-Courier.
The fire on Pollen Court was reported at around 11:30 a.m., Multiple agencies including mutual aid from Carson City Fire Department, Tahoe Douglas Fire Department, Truckee Meadows Fire, Reno and Sparks responded.
Battling gusty winds, the mutual aid effort was able to have forward fire progress of the fire stopped at around 1:30 p.m. Mop up efforts and patrol continued overnight and into Saturday morning, according to Eastern Sierra Fire and Ice, which monitors fires around the region.
American Red Cross is at the Douglas County Community and Senior Center to assist displaced residents. Residents can also call 1-800-RED-CROSS for assistance. Douglas County Animal Services has established an animal evacuation trailer at the Douglas County Community & Senior Center for house pets.
The Record-Courier reports the fire began in 2-3 duplexes in the Gardnerville Ranchos commercial core and quickly spread, closing the area to traffic and forcing evacuations on nearby streets.
At the time of the fire, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office had closed roads at Pollen Court, Pit Road and Tillman Lane and Pit Road at Short Court. Kimmerling Road was opened Friday afternoon.
By Friday evening, Douglas County announced via social media that residents who were evacuated on Pollen Court and 1281 Pit Road could return to their homes.
