A 28-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday at a residence for misdemeanor suspicion of domestic battery following a physical altercation with his mother and stepfather, a sheriff’s deputy said.
According to the arrest report, a deputy arrived at the location at 5:23 p.m. to investigate a report of domestic battery. The deputy spoke with the suspect, who was in the garage of the residence and was bleeding from the knee.
The man appeared intoxicated and the deputy asked if he had been drinking. The man said he had three beers and then later stated he had been drinking vodka since noon. He submitted to a preliminary breath sample of .120, the deputy report states.
The suspect told the officer he and his child are living at his mother’s residence and that he got into an argument with his stepfather, who he said shoved him and the two began to wrestle, which he said was how he cut his knee, according to the report.
He then gave conflicting information on how his knee was cut, ranging from a stool that was allegedly thrown at him, to a saw that was on the floor of the garage.
The investigating deputy then spoke with the man’s mother, who was the victim of the alleged battery. She advised she and her husband returned home from the grocery store and found her son unresponsive in front of the toilet of her guest bathroom.
She woke up her son and he became agitated and began to scream at her. She went to check on her grandson and found the child in his room covered in his own feces, the report states. When she asked her son to clean her grandson, he refused and said he was going to pack up his stuff and leave.
The victim said she told her son that leaving was a bad idea since he was drunk. She said her son grabbed the child and went toward the garage door and then he put the child down. The victim picked up the child to give him a bath.
While in the bathroom she heard loud voices in the garage and went there and found the suspect had her husband backed into a corner and was swinging at him. She told the deputy she moved toward the two and her son shoved her. She returned to the bathroom and called 911.
The woman’s husband was interviewed and said he and the suspect stumbled over a stool during the argument, that the suspect did take a swing at him but didn’t connect and that his stepson had pushed his mother, the report states.
The deputy observed the bedroom of the suspect and found feces smeared on several areas of the floor and walls. The deputy asked the suspect if he recalled being passed out in the bathroom. The suspect said he did not have a recollection of it.
The Carson City Fire Department arrived and bandaged the suspect’s knee. He was then placed into custody for suspicion of domestic battery. The deputy also informed the man he would be submitting information to the District Attorney’s office for a child neglect warrant review. Bail: $3,000.
