The Carson City School District is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Nicole Whitsett as the new vice principal at Fritsch Elementary School.
Whitsett has been the Music teacher at Fritsch Elementary for the past eight years, allowing students in kindergarten through fifth grade to explore their talents in general music, choir and beginning band. She has also led various school-wide and district musical performances and served as a team member and facilitator for numerous educational teams and committee including the Parenting Partners Team (2024-present), New Hire Mentor (2023-present), the Proficiency Scale Development Team (2023-present), the MTSS Team (2021-present), the Continuous Improvement Team (2018-present), the STEM Leadership Committee (2023-2024), the Carson Leadership Academy (2022-2024), PTA Teacher Representative (2018-2024) and the Nevada State Teacher Recruitment and Retention Advisory Task Force (2021-2023).
She earned a bachelor’s in music education from Duquesne University (2017) and a master’s in education in Educational Administration from Grand Canyon University (2020). Whitsett was also named Educator of the Year at Fritsch (2023), Rotary Teacher of the Month (2022) and Ormsby County Education Association (OCEA) “Rookie of the Year” (2019).
Whitsett will replace Ms. Gina Hoppe, who was announced as the new principal at Eagle Valley Middle School back in March.
