Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong swore in a new deputy, assistant sheriff and undersheriff Thursday at a ceremony held in the Ormsby Room at the Carson City Sheriff’s Office.
James Lachew is the latest Sheriff’s deputy to join the staff of law enforcement officers at the Carson City Sheriff’s Office (CCSO). He was sworn in Thursday by Sheriff Ken Furlong, who administered the oath.
Incoming Carson City Undersheriff Ken Sandage, former CCSO assistant sheriff, was formally sworn in to his new position, replacing outgoing Undersheriff Steve Albertsen, whose retirement became effective Thursday.
Albertsen, a 36-year law enforcement veteran, had announced his retirement in November.
Replacing Sandage as assistant sheriff is Jerome Tushbant, who was also sworn in Thursday at the CCSO by Sheriff Furlong.
Tushbant, a 27 year-old law enforcement veteran, joins the CCSO from the Nevada Department of Public Safety, where he had last served as Chief of the Capital Police Division since 2013.
Sandage, a decorated 26-year veteran of the CCSO, held the executive administrative position of assistant sheriff since August 2014.
