The Carson City Sheriff’s Office busted four people for felony possession of controlled substances (PCS) in two separate arrest incidents Friday afternoon, according to reports from Carson City Sheriff’s deputies.

The first two busts occurred together at 3:48 p.m. Friday in the area of northbound Interstate 580 and East College Parkway.

David Lee Wages, Jr., 31, and 33 year-old Derek Mares, both of Carson City, were taken into custody following a traffic stop of their vehicle for suspended registration, the arrest report said.

A records check showed Wages had a suspended driver’s licens. He was also unable to provide proof of insurance, the report said.

A K-9 officer performed an exterior vehicle sniff, which resulted in a positive alert. A subsequent vehicle search discovered three used syringes and a gray metal spoon with white residue on it, the report said.

A second gray metal spoon was also found containing a brown, gooey substance on it.

The substances were field tested and returned as presumptive positive for methamphetamine and heroin, respectively, according to the report.

Both men admitted to possessing the substances, the report said. They were subsequently handcuffed and transported to the Carson City Jail for booking.

In addition to the felony offense of PCS, both men were arrested for misdemeanor drug paraphernalia possession, the report said.

Wages was also booked on misdemeanor driving with a suspended license and vehicle registration, as well as no insurance, the report said.

Bail: $2,500 each.

— A Sparks man and a Reno woman were arrested together Friday afternoon at 5:21 p.m. in the area of northbound Interstate 580 and U.S. Highway 50 East for felony PCS and a host of misdemeanor violations, a Carson City Sheriff’s deputy said.

Israel Mora-Dominguez, 33, and 30 year-old Merissa Ann Clark were taken into custody following a traffic stop of their vehicle, which failed to make a complete stop at a red traffic light and speeding 10 miles per hour (mph) over the speed limit, the arrest report said.

The driver, Mora-Dominguez, did not have valid U.S. identification, the report said, but did produce a Mexican consular card. He also was unable to provide law enforcement with proof of insurance or vehicle registration. He had no valid driver’s license, according to a records check through dispatch.

A K-9 unit arrived to assist in the traffic stop, the report said, and an exterior sniff of the vehicle was performed, returning a positive alert during the procedure.

A subsequent search of the vehicle found a pink bag containing one gram of methamphetamine and two glass pipes under the front passenger seat where Clark was sitting, the report said.

Neither suspect admitted to the drugs or paraphernalia find, the report said, and Clark refused to take a field drug test.

Deputies arrested both suspects following the drug find, placing them in handcuffs and transporting them to the Carson City Jail for booking. Bail: $2,500 each.
