UPDATE 7:31PM: A brush fire in the Kings Canyon area was knocked down quickly early Friday evening, burning around a half acre, said Carson City Fire Department Chief Sean Slamon. There was no damage to structures in the fire. The cause is under investigation.

Carson City Fire Department and sheriff’s deputies were called early Friday evening to a brush fire in the 3100 block of Kings Canyon Road.

The fire was reported at around 7:10 p.m. Carson City sheriff’s deputies report at least one home in the area was being evacuated. Carson City fire crews have arrived on scene and report it as a “working incident.” It is unclear at this time if the fire is spreading or if other homes are threatened.

A fire investigator has been called to the scene.
