With nearly 280 responses received over a four week period, the results of the downtown residential survey validates that downtown occupancy is a desirable prospect to many. Unfortunately, due to lower response rates, the survey results do not accurately reflect the entire community as a whole.
The results have been posted at www.carson.org/survey. The intent of the survey was to determine if the data would reflect a need for residential opportunities in the downtown area. Additionally, real estate professionals could potentially use the insight collected from the data.
With a lower number of responses, the survey results are definitely skewed towards members of our community that currently own their own residences, are decidedly female and Caucasian, are more educated, have higher incomes and get their information through online resources. Any interpretation of the results must be looked at through these biases.
Since the results are biased, there will not be any future steps taken with this data. The results will continue to be available on the website for the foreseeable future.
City staff would like to thank all who participated in the survey.
In the coming weeks, the City will be posting another survey that will be focused on the Carson City Senior Center. Please stay tuned.
