Community health service agencies and providers from around the area will be in one place Saturday, Aug. 6 during the second annual “Hand Up” Resource Fair from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Mills Park Marv Teixeira Pavilion in Carson City.

This free community event is sponsored by the Carson City Health and Human Services Department. Upwards of 40 organizations will be at the fair, among them Carson Tahoe Health, United Blood Services, Oral Health Nevada, Children and Family Counseling, Partnership Carson City, Suicide Prevention and many more.

Hosted by the University of Nevada, Reno Orvis School of Nursing, a Carson City clinical group spent time observing the community and visiting local resources that are available to Carson City residents. During the study the nursing school learned of a multitude of organizations that are available to help the public.

The fair will bring all of the community resources to one central area with a vision to help the community become more aware of and acquainted with the resources available and point them in the right direction for obtaining services.

The event will feature music, a bounce house, refreshments and free food. The Marv Teixeira Pavilion is located at 111 East William Street.
