Strong high pressure will provide the likely return of triple digit heat this week for Carson City and much of western Nevada with highs at or near 100 and around 90 for Sierra valleys, according to the National Weather Service.
Carson City will see a high Tuesday of 98 and may see a chance of hitting the 100 degree mark by Wednesday and into the weekend with the hottest temperatures in the region expected Thursday with a projected high of 101 in Carson City.
As temperatures increase, so does the potential for heat-related impacts. Make sure to plan ahead and beat this heat. Be sure to avoid or postpone strenuous outdoor activities, dress for the heat, stay hydrated, and help the elderly, kids, and pets stay cool.
Heat risk potential will be greatest across western Nevada with a high heat impact risk for much of the population for hotter basin and range regions. Nonetheless, all should be prepared the heat in the week ahead.
