
A Carson City man was taken into custody late Tuesday morning at a Lee Street home on federal felony warrants and drug charges, a Tri-NET sergeant said.
Todd Cantwell, 45, was booked into custody following a month long investigation that also involved the federal Drug Enforcement Administration, said Tri-NET Sgt. Dan Johnson.
Tri-NET is made up of investigators and supervised by the Nevada Department of Public Safety Investigation Division.
In other arrests: A 55-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday, 9:15 p.m. in the 2800 block of Menlo Drive on a misdemeanor charge of domestic battery after confronting his girlfriend inside a restaurant where she worked, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
The man allegedly walked into the restaurant in the 4200 block of South Carson Street and confronted his girlfriend in the front entrance area. The victim told deputies the man threw a bouquet of flowers at her, hitting her in the chest and told her to trow them in the trash along with her dreams, according to the arrest report.
The victim picked up the flowers from the floor and began to walk away when the man allegedly spit on the left side of her face. The suspect was located at his residence later and taken into custody. He denied throwing flowers and spitting on the woman. Bail: $3,137.
— A 30-year-old man was arrested Monday, 12:07 p.m. in the area of North Stewart and John streets on a misdemeanor charge of petit larceny. A 24-year-old woman with him was also charged with petit larceny and obstructing, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
According to the arrest report, deputies were dispatched to a grocery store in the 500 block of East William Street. The male suspect allegedly stole two sodas and ran out of the store where he met up with the woman. They were asked to stop by security, with both running from the store. The woman’s vehicle was subsequently found in the store’s parking lot.
The two began running with the man and woman separating and him tossing the sodas. An Alternative Sentencing officer located the man on North Stewart and John Street. The woman saw the commotion and came to investigate on foot and tried to walk away from the scene as if she didn’t know the man. She was identified by witnesses as an accessory. The man momentarily denied knowing the woman and then denied she was involved in the incident.
The woman became uncooperative with deputies, flailing her arms, yelling and arguing. When officers attempted to detain her after they learned she was an accessory, the woman resisted, saying she was pregnant and would sue. She was safely placed in handcuffs and continued to argue with deputies. She faces charges of petit larceny and obstructing. Bail: $764. Bail for the 30-year-old male suspect, $352.
