A briefcase left at Starbucks in Minden and reported as suspicious turned out to be a laptop computer, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded at 3:40 p.m. to the coffee shop at 1734 US Highway 395 for a report of a suspicious briefcase, said Douglas County Sheriff’s Sgt. Pat Brooks.
The briefcase was located against the wall near the main entrance to the business. The Douglas County Bomb Squad was called to the area to evaluate the briefcase and to determine if an explosive device was inside.
It was determined that a laptop computer was inside the briefcase and the owner had returned to claim the briefcase. After the inspection, the briefcase and its contents were returned to its owner.
Due to heighten National threats, the sheriff’s office took necessary precautions with this event, said Brooks.
