The first day of 2014 will bring a stepped up presence on the streets of Carson City with a saturation patrol by the sheriff’s office.
Designed to help keep roadways safe from impaired and unsafe drivers, the day-long Wednesday, Jan. 1 patrol is designed to look for traffic-related violations, said Carson City Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Scott McDaniel. The last such saturation patrol was Dec. 20. Many drivers contacted during the patrol stated they knew about it because of the media and chose not to drink and drive.
“New Year’s arrives next week, and with it, celebrations and resolutions. One resolution you should make is to not drink and drive,” said McDaniel. “As you look forward to a bright future in the year ahead, don’t tarnish it with an arrest for driving under the influence or a major car crash which could lead to a life changing event.”
