Adding to the pre-Christmas cheer, the Carson High boys basketball team had home court advantage when they took on Reed Wednesday in Carson City.
Carson claimed the 5 p.m. tip off but it was Reed that stepped out early and took the first points after a transition and three steals. A couple successful plays later it was Carson’s Asa Carter who dropped a three-point bucket to bring the score to 8-5.
Carson started to pull ahead slightly at the end of the first with a score of 16-10. The second quarter was an offensive nightmare for both teams, but Carson was able to pick a couple of points up on free throws that ended ended the quarter at 23-12 Carson.
The score was 27-16 with 4:20 left in the third after a Carter free throw and finished at 29-16. Carson ran away with the lead in the 4th quarter leaving a final score of this match up Carson: 42, Reed: 25.
The Senators head down to San Diego, Calif., the day after Christmas to compete in a large high school basketball tournament for the majority of winter break.
