The Friends of the Nevada State Museum (FNSM) is pleased to announce that Lynn H., a local Carson City resident, has been selected as the winner of its recent raffle.
The prize — an 1870 Liberty Seated Half Dollar silver medallion — carries local and historical value. This specific piece, numbered #3000, marks the final medallion in its series. It was struck on the museum’s historic Coin Press No. 1, the original equipment used by the U.S. Mint in Carson City during the late 19th century.
Upon collecting her prize, the winner, who is a frequent visitor to the museum, shared that she is an avid collector of medallions minted at the historic site.
“We are thrilled that this special piece of Nevada history has found a home with someone who truly appreciates the craftsmanship and legacy of the Carson City Mint,” said Cora Johnson, chair of the FNSM Board of Trustees.
The raffle serves as a vital fundraiser for the Friends of the Nevada State Museum. All proceeds from the ticket sales are dedicated to supporting the museum’s mission, including educational programming, exhibit preservation, and community outreach.
The FNSM extends its sincere gratitude to everyone who participated in the raffle. For more information on upcoming events or how to support the Nevada State Museum, please visit carsonnvmuseum.org.
