Carson City Supervisor Stacey Giomi has announced his intention to run for re-election to his Ward 1 seat.

Giomi was first elected in 2018 and re-elected to the Ward 1 post in 2022.  He has over 40 years of public service, including retiring as the Carson City Fire Chief in 2015.

In addition to his elected position, Giomi is the Director of Facilities, Security, and Emergency Preparedness for the state-wide non-profit, Nevada Health Centers.

Giomi highlighted significant progress in community investment during his tenure.

“Initiatives such infrastructure modernization, public safety, long-term planning, and responsible financial stewardship are critical to improving our residents’ quality of life.”

He added that he backed important accomplishments such as the development of master plans for Fuji Park, Mills Park, and John D Winters Centennial Park; and securing more than $15 million in grant funding to revitalize recreational facilities for future generations.

Looking ahead, Supervisor Giomi emphasized continued commitment to key challenges facing Carson City.

Priorities include investing in a much-needed upgrade to the juvenile justice facility, developing an effective ordinance for the use of short-term rental properties to protect neighborhoods, and completing the final phase of the citywide corridor revitalization through the North Carson Street gateway project.

Additional goals include strengthening economic development, modernizing business and land-use codes, and ensuring long-term sustainability in road and infrastructure maintenance.

“We have accomplished a great deal, but our work is far from finished,” Giomi said. “My focus now is on smart planning, responsible investment, and creating a stronger, safer, more prosperous Carson City for the next generation.”
