Local weather may have rained on the Santa Parade in downtown Carson City Saturday morning, but it has done nothing to dampen the area’s Christmas spirit.

Santa Claus and his elves were dry and warm inside the Carson Mall Saturday, inviting families to visit Kris Kringle at his makeshift North Pole headquarters off South Carson Street.

The Christmas spirit also emanated from dozens of craft vendors throughout the mall, including the Carson City Lion’s Club, which met visitors near the east entrance with smiles and stacks of See’s candy that the local civic organization is selling as part of its annual holiday fundraiser.

Mall hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and vendors for the seasonal Holiday Craft Fair are open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily now through Dec. 24.

Photos with Santa Claus are 4 to 6 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays at the mall through Christmas Eve, Dec. 24.
