Graduates of the Carson City Chamber Leadership classes volunteered their time Saturday to assist the state grounds crew in installing Christmas lights and decorations in front of the capitol.

This year’s official Silver and Snowflakes Festival of Lights ceremonial gathering at the state capitol grounds will not be possible due to COVID-19 restrictions and the lack of workforce.

The lights and decorations will shine on however, beginning Friday night. Go here for the full story.

Normally it takes 4-6 weeks to decorate the grounds to provide the spectacular show of lights that are lit to herald the season and to kick off the Silver and Snowflakes Festival of Lights; however, this year, the lights will be very subdued in comparison to past years.

This year’s festival has been cancelled and will take place virtually on KGBN-TV Carson City this Friday, Dec. 4. The area fifth graders will sing favorite holiday songs that have been pre-taped. The show may be seen by logging on to NGBNCarsonCity.TV or by downloading the NGBN.TV app to view on Roku TV, Amazon Fire Tv, Android TV and Apple TV beginning at 5:30 pm.
