Here is the Carson City area road report for the week of Dec. 1-7, 2014. There will be work primarily in the shoulder E. Fifth Street from Roop Street to Saliman Road from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. from Monday through Friday. Elaine Street will remain closed to through traffic from Monday through Sunday. Please follow marked detour.

Work will continue Monday through Friday on the sidewalk along Nye Lane between Northgate Lane and Hot Springs Road and on Northgate Lane between Nye Lane and Hot Springs Road. The street will be open, but there will be parking restrictions.

The following traffic impacts are expected due to utility work:
— Beginning Wednesday, Dec. 3, through Friday, December 5, there will be a lane shift on N. Valley Street at the intersection with William Street.
– On Monday, Dec. 1, and Tuesday, Dec. 2, there will be a lane closure on Clemens Drive just east of Bunker Hill Drive.
— On Monday, Dec. 1, and Tuesday, Dec. 2, there will be shoulder work on the east side of Fairview Drive just south of the Fifth Street roundabout.
— There will be shoulder work on the east side of Granite Way just north of Castle Way, Monday through Friday.

The following road closures are scheduled to occur on Friday, Dec. 5, from 4 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for the Silver and Snowflakes Festival of Lights in downtown Carson City:
— Carson Street between Robinson Street and Fifth Street (4 p.m. to 7 p.m.).
— Curry Street between Musser Street and Robinson Street.
— Spear Street between Curry Street and Carson Street.
— Proctor Street between Curry Street and Carson Street.
— Telegraph Street between Curry Street and Carson Street (3 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.).
— Musser Street between Nevada Street and Carson Street (5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.).

The following from Caltrans are highway work projects around Lake Tahoe and the Sierra through Dec. 6. Major roadwork around Lake Tahoe has been suspended for the winter season.

State Route 28 (Placer County): Utility work continues on Placer County’s $50 million Kings Beach Commercial Core Improvement Project from State Route 267 to Chipmunk Street. The project is installing curb and gutter, sidewalks, roundabouts, lighting and drainage systems to enhance pedestrian and bicycle mobility, improve safety and provide water-quality improvements.

State Route 28 (Placer County) from the junction with State Route 267 to Secline Street: Westbound motorists can expect the #2 lane and right shoulder closed around the clock from 6 a.m. Monday to noon Friday for utility work.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County): Work continues on a $15.1 million project to replace the bridge over Sly Park Road in Pollock Pines. The project will also add sidewalks to both sides of Sly Park Road, curb and gutter and curb ramps. Completion is expected by spring 2015.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) at Sly Park Road: Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect ramp closures from 7 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Saturday and alternating lane closures around the clock from midnight Monday until 4 p.m. Saturday for striping. Motorists can also a full closure of Sly Park Road from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Saturday for striping. Highway 50 is reduced to one lane in each direction.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County): Work continues on a $57 million project by El Dorado County to construct a new overcrossing over U.S. Highway 50, new on- and off-ramps with signalized intersections, and new bicycle and pedestrian facilities at Silva Valley Parkway in El Dorado Hills.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) at the “Y” intersection with State Route 89 in South Lake Tahoe: Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect the #1 lane closed from 8 p.m. Wednesday to 8 a.m. Thursday for utility work.

State Route 193 (El Dorado County) from South Street in Georgetown to Traverse Creek Road: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday and Tuesday for utility work.

Interstate 80 (Placer County) from Brace Road to Magra Road: Work continues on a $36 million project to increase the vertical clearance of nine bridge structures in south Placer County to 16 feet, 6 inches. The vertical clearance will be increased on six structures by lifting the existing bridge deck and the other three will have the roadway below dug down.

Interstate 80 (Placer County) from King Road to Rock Spring Road: Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect alternating lane closures and ramp closures from 8 p.m. to 9 a.m. Sunday through Saturday for bridge work.

Interstate 80 (Placer County) from Sierra College Boulevard to Horseshoe Bar Road: Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect alternating lane closures from 8 p.m. to 9 a.m. Monday through Friday and 10 p.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Saturday for bridge work.

Nov. 30 – Dec. 5: Interstate 80 (Placer County) Cape Horn Road to Secret Town Road: Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect alternating lane closures from 7 p.m. to 9 a.m. Sunday through Friday for bridge work.

State Route 20 (Nevada County) from Scotts Flat Road to Conservation Vista: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday for utility work.

State Route 20 (Nevada County) at the Interstate 80 connector: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday for bridge work:

Interstate 80 (Placer County) at Taylor Road in Roseville: Westbound motorists can expect the on-ramp closed from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Friday for a maintenance operation.

Interstate 80 (Placer County) from Applegate Road to Dry Creek Road: Motorists can expect alternating lane closures from 11 p.m. Monday to 3 a.m. Tuesday for electrical work.
