By Carson City School District — Carson High School’s Naval Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (NJROTC) Raider Team recently demonstrated resilience and skill at the 2024 Sports Network International (SNI) All-Service Raider Nationals held in Molena, Georgia. Competing against top JROTC teams from across the county, Carson’s cadets delivered outstanding performances in a series of grueling events designed to test strength, endurance and teamwork.
The competition, held on challenging terrain, consisted of five events: Rope Bridge, Cross Country Rescue (CCR), a 4K Mountain Run, the Gauntlet and a Physical Team Test. Carson High cadets excelled, particularly in the Rope Bridge event, where they clinched an impressive third-place finish. They also placed 4th in the Cross Country Rescue, showcasing their capability in teamwork and swift decision-making under pressure. After competing fiercely in all five events, Carson High’s NJROTC Raider Team secured an admirable 6th place overall.
The achievement underscores the dedication and hard work of the Raider Team, as well as the leadership and training provided by the school’s naval instructor. Competing at the national level against some of the country’s best teams, they represented the school and community with pride, setting an inspiring example for their peers.
Prior to competing at the nationals in Georgia, the Carson High NJROTC Raider Team secured a major victory at the Northern Nevada Raider Championships, held earlier in the season. Their win at this regional competition demonstrated the team’s remarkable physical conditioning, strategy and unity, earning them the title of Northern Nevada champions. This victory fueled their momentum and confidence going into the All-Service Raider Nationals, where they proudly represented not only Carson High but also the entire Northern Nevada region.
