On November 19, 2025, at approximately 5:26 p.m. the Nevada Highway Patrol responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian crash on I580 northbound between North Carson Street and Eastlake Boulevard in Carson City, Nevada.
The preliminary investigation indicates that a vehicle was traveling northbound on I580.

This vehicle struck a pedestrian that was in the northbound travel lanes of I580.

The pedestrian, an adult female, was pronounced dead on scene by medical personnel.

Update: The cause of the crash was reportedly due to a woman walking on the freeway who was struck by a vehicle in the northbound lanes, and she was later pronounced dead at the scene. We’ll update with more information as it becomes available.


According to NDOT traffic cameras, I580 appears to have reopened following a fatal crash that was reported just after 5:30 p.m. Wednesday night.

Carson Now readers reported that the freeway was blocked in both directions with all traffic stopped for some time, although some motorists were able to exist onto Eastlake Blvd.

The crash reportedly occurred at the bottom of the hill from Carson City into Washoe Valley in the northbound lanes.

At least one fatality has been reported; however at this time it is unknown how many, or how many vehicles were involved.
