On Saturday afternoon from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Children’s Museum of Northern Nevada partnered with the Washiw Tribe to bring the first annual Indigenous Peoples’ Heritage Day, which was free to the community.
Attendees were able to learn about the Washiw People and their culture through play and education, including basket making, rabbit skin blanket demonstrations, the building of a Galis-dungal, or winter structure of the tribe, and more.
