Bethlehem Lutheran School

  • A student giving Mr. Karges the business.
  • Mr. Karges wants to know if we are done yet.
  • Now that's how you do it.

Students at Bethlehem Lutheran School in Carson City stepped up to help Friends in Service Helping, also known as FISH, Thursday at their annual canned food drive.

The staff of the school challenged the students to collect 6,000 cans of food. If the students met the 6,000 can goal any student who brought in more than 40 cans of food would be allowed to throw a pie at the principal and the whole school would receive a free dress day.

Well, they did it and by a wide margin as they collected 8,217 items for FISH. So on Thursday, Nov. 9, 54 students who brought in 40 or more items had the opportunity to throw a pie at Mr. Lonnie Karges, the school principal.

The first-grade class brought in 2,442 items! Our real goal was to help feed the hungry and homeless in Carson City so thank you to all who donated food.
