Partnership Carson City’s Drug Round Up — aimed at preventing medication misuse by offering a safe and convenient way to dispose of outdated or unused prescriptions — takes place Saturday, Oct. 25, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the following locations:
- North Carson Save Mart, 3620 N. Carson St., Carson City
- FoodMaxx, 3325 U.S. 50 E., Carson City
- Smith’s, 599 E. William St., Carson City
Accepted items include pills, capsules, tablets, liquids, and sharps or syringes in sealed containers.
At-home drug disposal kits will also be available, offering a safe and environmentally friendly option for proper disposal in household trash. In addition, Naloxone (Narcan) will be available during the event. Naloxone is a life-saving medication that can reverse the effects of an opioid overdose.
The program helps protect the environment and promotes community well-being by ensuring medications are properly discarded.
“Our entire focus is on supporting our community and keeping harmful drugs, even those that may say they are expired, from others,” said Samantha Szoyka, deputy director for Partnership Carson City. “By holding our safe disposal event, we want to make it easy for residents to remove unwanted medications from their homes and prevent any misuse, accidental poisonings, or even worse, accidental overdoses of vulnerable individuals. It’s easy too. Just gather your medications and bring them to us at one of the four locations, and we’ll take care it from there.”
