Breathe in some crisp autumn air and take in the beauty of the changing leaves as you accompany Muscle Powered on an early morning bike ride. Show off your favorite fur baby at Genoa Coffee and Candy’s Howl-O-Ween celebration. Stop by the Nevada State Railroad Museum for the last day of the Harvest Train Festival and Pumpkin Patch.   • Muscle Powered Weekly Bike Ride – Meet in the south parking lot of Fremont Elementary School, next to the Linear Ditch Trail (8am; consists of two loops which are 10-15 miles long each, this will allow a rider to do 10-15 miles or 20-30 miles; ride pace will vary depending on rider level, but usually about 12-16 mph; email Shane shane@shanetrotter.net for questions about the ride; All riders must have a bicycle in safe working condition, helmet, and closed toed shoes. Participants are responsible for their own transportation to the meeting site)
  • Nevada Artists Association Art Exhibit featuring artists Anna Louise Dardin and Bob Hickox with Photography by Chas. H. McDonnell, III at the Carson Visitor Center (8am-5pm)
  • Breakfast and Bowl at Carson Lanes (9am-12pm; breakfast and unlimited bowling until noon $13, $8 kids 12 and younger)
  • CC BMX Racing at the Livermore (Edmonds) Sports Complex: 1555 Livermore Lane (weather permitting; signups 9am-10am; $10, must be USABMX member; new rider kits available)
  • Ziptied Mafia Clothing Relaunch Car Show at the Wheelhouse: 291 Rhodes (9am-3pm; all makes/models welcome, $10)
  • Raiders Booster Club at the Eleventh Frame Lounge in Carson Lanes (vs the Jacksonville Jaguars; 10am; food/drink specials; supervised kids under 21 welcome)
  • Silver Cats Cat Club Presents Comstock Lode of Cats at the Fuji Park Exhibition Hall (10am-3pm)
  • Halloween Owl: Family Day Painting Class at Van Gogh and Vino (10am-12:30pm; $18 per painter)
  • Annual Nevada Day Art Show at the Nevada Artists Association Gallery in the Brewery Arts Center (10am-4pm)

Don’t miss the last day of the Railroad Museum’s Harvest Festival. It’s also a food drive for the FISH food bank: you’ll get a raffle ticket if you bring a donation.

  • Second Annual Harvest Train and Festival with Virginia and Truckee #25 Steam Engine Rides at the Nevada State Railroad Museum (10am-4pm; unlimited train rides and museum admission $15 adults, $5 kids 4-17; bring non-perishable food for the FISH food bank; scarecrow art show and auction, old-fashioned pumpkin patch, artists, crafters, food trucks and more)
  • Day Out with Thomas the Tank Engine at the V and T Depot: 166 F Street, Virginia City (rides depart hourly 10am-3pm; $19; arrive one hour prior to departure time; advance ticket purchase recommended; Tickets can be purchased online at ticketweb.com/dowt, or call 866-468-7630, or in person at the Virginia City Depot.)
  • Howl-o-ween Pet Party at Genoa Candy and Coffee in Carson Lanes (11am-1pm; $1; Pet Costume Contest; Goodie bag, including candy for you and treats for your pets; Supporting ‘Pets of the Homeless, pet food donations appreciated)

All work and no play might make Jack a dull boy, but it makes for a great movie. Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining plays twice today and twice Wednesday at the Galaxy Theater. For something more family friendly, catch the new Ghostbusters at the Carson City Library.
