C-A-L Ranch Stores, an expanding ranch and home store chain, will open a new store in Carson City in April 2012. The new store will be located in the existing Safeway building on Carson Street, north of the Carson Shopping Center. Safeway announced on Monday that it was closing the store, which had been in operation for 38 years.
C-A-L Ranch Stores is a privately held company headquartered in Idaho Falls, Idaho with locations throughout Idaho, Utah, Nevada and Arizona. Opening in April, Carson City will be the second store opening in 2012, following Flagstaff, Arizona, which is scheduled to open March 2012. The Carson City store will also be the second in Nevada, with the first being in Elko.
C-A-L stores was founded in 1959 in downtown Idaho Falls and specializes in a variety of ranch and home needs. Selling not only ranch goods and western gear, C-A-L Ranch Stores has a variety of merchandize ranging from lawn and garden supplies, automotive and pet supplies to sporting goods and power equipment. Continuing to grow despite the slow economy, the company has found that they have what people need when the economy is down and what people want when the economy is up, said Jerry Ward of C-A-L Ranch Stores.
