UPDATE 5:45 p.m.: Sheriff Ken Furlong said that today’s incident was related to a search warrant execution at the residence of an individual who was arrested on Sunday for building a small homemade incendiary device.
There is no threat to the public, Furlong said; the bomb squad was there as part of the investigation in case any other devices were located.
Furlong said more information is likely to be released as the investigation progresses, but the suspect currently remains in custody at the Carson Jail, and has been since Sunday.

As of 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Carson City Sheriff’s Office deputies, first responders and members of the bomb squad are on scene at a motel at the corner of N. Carson Street and W. Park.
The parking lot has been coned off and yellow tape has been strung up. The lot is not accessible to the public at this time.
A number of law enforcement vehicles are on scene, and residents are urged to stay away at this time — especially due to the construction and road closures on W. Park Street.
However, there is no indication at this time that there is immediate danger to the public.
We will update with more information as it becomes available.
