A Carson City man with a criminal history of possessing child pornography in which he was convicted and served time in prison, was caught allegedly viewing child pornography Tuesday by accessing a local business wifi connection, a Carson City Sheriff’s Office lieutenant said.
Glenn Allen Ware, 66, was arrested Tuesday afternoon on felony suspicion of second offense possessing child pornography from the business wifi in the 300 block of South Curry Street, said Lt. Brian Humphrey.
“We’ve had a new, ongoing investigation with information that he has been involved in child pornography. We received information today that he was in a public parking lot in the 300 block of South Curry Street using free wifi from a local business. Detectives were able to observe that he was viewing child pornography on a laptop computer and he was taken into custody based on that,” said Humphrey.
A warrant to search his home was obtained through a Carson City judge Tuesday night, said Humphrey. Electronic devices were recovered.
In April 2009, Ware was arrested on charges of having dozens of images of child pornography, with children as young as a year old, according to arrest records. The investigation goes back as far as 2007, when Ware exchanged e-mails with an undercover federal agent, where he requested child pornography. His home was raided in March 2009. A confiscated computer had images and videos depicting young children being sexually abused by adult men and women, according to arrest reports.
He was arrested again in June 2009 for violation of bail conditions when he exited a movie theater, a violation of a court order requiring that he stay away from areas frequented by children, according to police records. He was later convicted of child pornography possession charges and served a year in prison, said Humphrey.
