On Oct. 4, 2025, at approximately 9:02 a.m., the Nevada Highway Patrol, a division of the Nevada State Police, responded to a crash at the location of US-395 Alternate near mile marker 11 (near Pagni Lane) in Washoe County, Nev.
The preliminary investigation indicates that a 1995 Subaru Legacy was traveling northbound on US-395 Alternate near MM11 in the #1 travel lane. Two bicyclists were traveling on US-395 Alternate southbound in the designated bicycle lane in the same area.
The driver of the Subaru failed to maintain the northbound travel lane crossing all the southbound travel lanes and entering the southbound designated bicycle lane. The driver of the Subaru input steering to the right causing the vehicle to begin rotating clockwise. Both bicycles were struck, and one of the bicyclist was ejected from the bicycle. The Subaru continued northbound and crossed back into the northbound travel lanes where it came to rest on its wheels.
One bicyclist was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The second bicyclist who was ejected, Susan Mae Goodenow, female, age 62, from Reno, Nev., unfortunately succumbed to injuries and was pronounced deceased on-scene by medical personnel.
