Smoke from northern California fires will linger around for the next couple days, with potential degrading air quality over the Carson City and Lake Tahoe regions, according to the National Weather Service.

Temperatures will begin cooling Wednesday as a cold front moves into northeast California and western Nevada. Below average temperatures are expected Thursday through Saturday. Warmer temperatures and dry conditions are likely next week.

For Carson City, Carson Valley and Dayton areas, high temperatures will be in the high 50s to low 60s Thursday and Friday and high 50s on Saturday, warming up to the mid 60s by Sunday.
