Meet Vivi, a petite little tabby girl with a big story—and now that she has made it safely to Catmandu, she is ready for the next chapter: a home of her very own. Vivi was living on the streets of Fernley, but found her way into the backyard of a good Samaritan several months ago. She decided the back porch looked like a pretty good place to raise a family. She made herself at home and eventually brought her 2 kittens out so they could learn where to find food.

As the kittens approached three months old, winter started getting closer. The Samaritan became increasingly worried about what would happen to the little family once the weather turned cold. With help from ARGONN, Vivi was trapped, spayed and prepared for a safer future.
Vivi was a friendly, sweet mama, but her two kittens were a different story. They were still very wary of people and wanted nothing to do with being touched. They were trapped, temporarily held and waiting for their own TNR appointment.
Then came a little bit of serendipity. One of Catmandu’s supporters happened to be a close friend of the Samaritan’s sister. She heard about Vivi and her babies and contacted us. She may have used a little bit of her influence to persuade us that this family really did need a chance. We’re very glad she did.
Vivi’s two kittens went into a foster home, where they are doing wonderfully. They are learning that people can be trusted, that hands can deliver affection as well as food, and that being a domestic cat has some pretty nice advantages over life on the streets. And Vivi? She came to Catmandu and quickly showed us that she is absolutely ready to leave her outdoor life behind.
Vivi is about a year old, petite and short-haired, with beautiful tabby markings. She can be a little tentative when meeting new people, which is understandable considering her history, but underneath that initial shyness is a super-sweet little girl who deserves a life filled with love, comfort and safety.
She enjoys playing and seems perfectly comfortable around other friendly cats who understand the importance of personal space. She isn’t looking for a feline wrestling partner who will constantly invade her bubble, but she appears happy to coexist with respectful kitty roommates. We don’t know how she would feel about a cat-friendly dog, so that would need to be determined on an individual basis. Because Vivi is still building her confidence, we think she would probably be happiest in a home without very young children.
Vivi is already spayed, completely up to date on her vaccines and healthy. All she needs now is someone willing to give her a little time to settle in and discover just how wonderful life can be when you don’t have to worry about finding your next meal or surviving the winter. She has already been a devoted mama. Now it’s time for someone to take care of her.
If you think Vivi might be the little tabby you’ve been looking for, please fill out a pre-adoption application on our website at catmanducc.org. Then come meet her during Catmandu’s regular adoption hours, Friday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. We ask potential adopters to arrive no later than 3 p.m. so there is plenty of time to get acquainted with the cats before adoptions close. Catmandu Cat Sanctuary & Rescue is located at 1829 Brown Street in Carson City.
Vivi spent the beginning of her life doing what she had to do to survive. Now she is ready to spend the rest of it simply being loved.
Catmandu is a local non-profit, cage-free cat rescue, shelter and sanctuary. We receive no government assistance or funds from national organizations. We depend solely on the support of our community. If you would like to volunteer or donate, please visit our website listed above.
