With a December opening planned for its new Highway 50 East location in Carson City, FoodMaxx will host a job fair this Tuesday at Nevada JobConnect.

The discount grocery store, which will go into the former Save Mart location, is hiring 70 employees for its Carson City store and another 70 for its Sparks location.

Tuesday’s job fair at Nevada JobConnect will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 11, at 1929 North Carson Street in Carson City.

The grocery store chain is hiring the following positions for the Carson City location: Managers, cashiers, clerks and night crews in the bakery, produce, meat and frozen food departments.

The company said in a news release that the Carson City location is scheduled to open on Dec. 7.

There are three job hiring fairs next week, including one Monday at Nevada JobConnect, 4001 S. Virginia Street H, in Reno from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Wednesday, at Nevada JobConnect, 2281 Pyramid Way, in Sparks. The fair will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

FoodMaxx says it offers competitive wages, benefits and flexible hours.

The company had originally planned to open in August. FoodMaxx is replacing Save Mart Supermarket in the commercial building located at 3325 Highway 50 East in Carson City.

Save Mart closed its doors there on March 26 to make way for the new FoodMaxx chain, a brand under Save Mart Stores, Inc.
