The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office has made two separate arrests of registered sex offenders for failing to comply with their statutory verification requirements.

On September 18, 2026, Lyon County Sheriff’s Office Western Command deputies arrested Edward Russell, 63, of Dayton. Russell is a Tier III registered sex offender and was required under Nevada law to complete his required verification by a specified date. Russell failed to complete that verification as required.

Russell was contacted by Western Command deputies and subsequently arrested for a felony violation of NRS 179D.550. He was transported and booked into the Lyon County Jail.

On September 24, 2026, Lyon County Sheriff’s Office Northern Command deputies arrested Michael Corral, 55, of Fernley, under similar circumstances. Corral is a Tier II registered sex offender and was required under Nevada law to complete his required verification by a specified date. Corral failed to complete that verification as required.

Corral was contacted at the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office Fernley Substation and subsequently arrested for a felony violation of NRS 179D.550. He was transported and booked into the Lyon County Jail.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office maintains zero tolerance for registered sex offenders who fail to comply with their statutory registration requirements and will continue to take enforcement action when violations are identified.

Registered sex offenders are responsible for understanding and complying with all registration and verification requirements imposed under Nevada law.
