CARSON CITY, NV – The Carson Douglas Early Childhood Advisory Council (CDECAC) is set to host a major professional development event for early childhood educators on Saturday, October 11, 2025. The event will feature a keynote address from renowned early childhood education expert and author, Lisa Murphy, widely known as “The Ooey Gooey Lady.”

The event, which is being held to support and empower local educators, will focus on hands-on, play-based learning and the importance of “doing the art, not just the craft.” Murphy, a veteran in the field, is known for her dynamic and engaging presentations that encourage educators to embrace mess, creativity, and child-led discovery.

“We are thrilled to bring someone of Lisa Murphy’s caliber to Carson City,” said Tiffany Olivas, Chair of the CDECAC. “Her message is perfectly aligned with our mission to create a high-quality, coordinated system of services that support early childhood development. We believe her insights will be invaluable to the dedicated early childhood professionals in our Nevada communities.”

CDECAC, whose mission is to foster a high-quality early learning environment in Carson City and Douglas County, has been a driving force in providing resources and support to families and educators. This event is part of their ongoing efforts to provide professional development opportunities and highlight the crucial role that early childhood educators play in the community.

The event is expected to draw a large crowd of teachers, child care providers, and other professionals from across the region. Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in interactive sessions, network with colleagues, and gain fresh perspectives on how to create a positive and stimulating learning environment for young children.
