Gusty southwest winds will continue through Wednesday, bringing dangerous boating conditions at Lake Tahoe and Pyramid and areas of blowing dust elsewhere, according to the National Weather Service in Reno.

The winds will also bring additional smoke from the Rough, Lumpkin, Valley, and Butte fires across the Sierra and northern Nevada.

The intensity of the smoke and air quality impacts will be dependent on how active the fires are burning. For air quality information go to airnow.gov.

Cooler fall-like weather will prevail across the region with chances for rain and high elevation snow above 8,000 feet through Thursday morning. There’s a Lake Wind Advisory for Lake Tahoe through 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Around the Carson City region, Wednesday’s highs are expected in the mid 60s in the valley region with lows in the upper 30s. Thursday and Friday will bring highs in the low to mid 70s with lows in the 40s. Saturday could bring temperatures back up into the low 80s.
