Carson City Fire Department and sheriff’s deputies responded Thursday morning to the Mutual of Omaha Bank building in the 1100 block of North Carson Street for a report of smoke in the building.

Shortly before 8:30 a.m. dispatch alerted the fire department to call from employees who entered the building and observed light inside. Neither firefighters or employees observed any flames.

Firefighters learned there had been HVAC work done recently on the building. Light smoke was visible inside both floors of the building. At around 8:35 a.m. firefighters had made access to the roof of the building and were looking for the source of the light smoke.

At around 8:55 a.m. firefighters located a burned HVAC motor believed to have been a source of the smoke. Employees were notified
