Carson Water Subconservancy District (CWSD) will host its two-day “Get on the Bus” tour Oct. 27 & 28.
“The ‘Get on the Bus’ tour of the Carson River Watershed is a great way to get to know our watershed from top to bottom in two days,” said Brenda Hunt, CWSD Watershed Program Manager. “This survey course highlights the amazing partnerships and work being accomplished to enhance our water resources and our watershed’s health.”
A 55-passenger luxury bus will depart from the CWSD office each morning. Expert guides will cover topics ranging from water rights, river-restoration projects, and water quality & quantity to floodplain management, regenerative agriculture and more. The tour is suitable for both water industry experts and interested residents.
Stops include the Quill water treatment plant in Carson City; ranch-to-river conservation and recreation project conversions in Alpine County, Calif. and Douglas County, Nev; the Fallon Paiute Shoshone Tribal wetlands; Churchill Museum; Lahontan Reservoir Dam; and the newest Nevada state park, which should have a name by the time of the tour. Videos and onboard presentations will keep travelers informed during the ride, and lunch will be provided at River Fork Ranch and Rambling River Ranches.
Tour cost is $225. Early-bird pricing of $200 is good through Friday, Sep. 11. Certified engineers, planners and floodplain managers can earn continuing education credits.
