UPDATE 4:02PM: The Nevada Seismological Lab has downgraded this afternoon’s earthquake to a 3.9 magnitude. Nevertheless, it was widely felt around the region.

A 4.1 magnitude earthquake shook the north Lake Tahoe region Thursday afternoon, according to the University of Nevada Seismological Lab.

The quake was centered 5.5 miles north-northeast of Tahoe City at 3:08 p.m. and was felt as far south as Meyers at south shore Lake Tahoe. Readers are saying they felt the earthquake in Carson City, Mound House, Dayton and Reno.

This follows two from earlier in the day near Mt. Rose, a 2.0 and 1.0.
