The National Weather Service says a strong “October-like” weather system will bring cooler temperatures and very strong wind to the region Friday night through Saturday making for dangerous fire conditions.
Widespread wind gusts exceeding 40 mph are expected, with ridge winds gusting up to 85 mph. Impacts will include: Below normal temperatures, blowing dust reducing visibility, hazardous boating conditions, and dangerous driving conditions for high profile vehicles.
Wind advisories and Red Flag Warnings are in effect for the much of Western Nevada Sierra front including Carson City, Reno, Lyon and Douglas counties.
Winds will be capable of bringing down tree limbs and may blow away unsecured outdoor items like patio furniture or camping gear. It’s also a good idea to bring the small dogs inside.
